MAURA K. McKEEVER, graduated from the University Notre Dame in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum
Laude and from Boston College Law School in 1990 with a Juris Doctorate Cum Laude. Ms. McKeever was admitted to
practice law in Illinois in 1990, in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois in 1990, in Michigan
in 2005 and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2009.

PRACTICE AREAS:  Banking and Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Family Law, Estate Planning, Bankruptcy
(representing both debtors and creditors), Government and Township Law and Civil Litigation.

EXPERIENCE: After graduating from Boston College Law School, Ms. McKeever was an associate in the litigation
department at Seyfarth Shaw Fairweather and Geraldson, where she concentrated in complex construction litigation,
representing a Chicago based national construction firm.

Ms. McKeever represents financial institutions in mortgage foreclosure actions, collection actions, workouts and document
review.  She has experience drafting and negotiating loan documents, deed in lieu documents and forbearance agreements.  
She protects a bank’s interests when a borrower files bankruptcy and has successfully challenged the dischargeability of a
debt.  She has also successfully defended a bank against a six figure lawsuit alleging breach of fiduciary duty.


Ms. McKeever’s representation of corporate entities includes corporate governance, drafting and revising employment
handbooks and advising companies on issues ranging from employment contracts to wage disputes.  She has also assisted
her corporate clients in the acquisition and sales of corporations, including restaurants.  She has drafted and negotiated leases
and purchase agreements.  Ms. McKeever has also represented her corporate clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including
successfully defending against a preference action brought by the bankruptcy trustee.

Ms. McKeever also represents local governments, including villages, townships and township road districts.  She has
extensive experience in providing governmental bodies with advice concerning the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of
Information Act, purchasing and contracting, employment matters, land use, drafting and adoption of ordinances, and civil
rights matters. Ms. McKeever also represents various taxing bodies before the Illinois Property Tax Appeals Board
(PTAB).

Ms. McKeever has litigated complex civil rights and commercial cases in both state and federal trial courts and appellate
courts and has successfully guided her clients in mediation.  Ms. McKeever’s litigation experience is valuable when drafting
documents and advising corporate and bank clients, because she has a firm understanding of the workings of the courts as
well as of the types of issues that are likely to result in litigation.

MEMBERSHIPS: Ms. McKeever is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Michigan State Bar, the Irish
Lawyers and the American Bankruptcy Institute.   She is the Parent-Student Liaison for her local Notre Dame Alumni
Club.  She is an active member of the Band and Orchestra Boosters and Choir Boosters at her children’s high school.
