Lewis F. Matuszewich graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. He has a
Juris Doctorate degree from Northwestern University School of Law. Mr. Matuszewich was admitted to practice law in
Illinois in 1966 and before the United States Supreme Court in 1971.

Municipal and Township Law, Not-For-Profit Organization and Operations.
EXPERIENCE: After graduation from Northwestern University School of Law, Mr. Matuszewich served as a staff
attorney with Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago. As such, he provided legal advice to senior management and the
Board of Directors on a wide range of issues including employment regulations and union rules, contracts, copyright and
other intellectual property issues, as well as negotiations on broadcast and print media contracts running into the tens of
millions of dollars. He was recruited and served as Senior Attorney and subsequently Deputy Regional Director for the
U.S. Small Business Administration, responsible for the legal issues, as well as administrative functions, in the agency.
Since leaving the federal government, Mr. Matuszewich has been in the private practice of law. As a founding Partner of
Matuszewich, Kelly & McKeever, LLP, Mr. Matuszewich focuses primarily on government and township law, corporate
governance, real estate, not-for profit organization and estate planning.
MEMBERSHIPS: Mr. Matuszewich has been an active member of the Illinois bar. His professional credentials include
various leadership positions for the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. After several years of
service on the Membership and Bar Activities Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association, he served as Chair of the
Committee. He currently serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association. He has
served as Chair of both the ISBA Commercial Banking and Bankruptcy Law Section Council and the International and
Immigration Law Section Council.
In addition, Mr. Matuszewich serves on the McHenry County Council of Governments Committee on Transportation and
Legislation. As a member of this committee, he regularly meets with state Representatives and Senators representing
McHenry County and has participated in specific legislative education programs for state representatives. He has also met
with Congressmen from Illinois on legislative, fiscal and other issues and specifically has met with both members of
Congress that include in their districts portions of McHenry County.
Mr. Matuszewich currently serves on the Advisory Board to Senior Services Associates, Inc. which offers programs in
McHenry, Kane and Kendall Counties.
Mr. Matuszewich is also an active member of a Chicago- based private not for profit economic development organization.
Over the last few years, the organization has examined and worked with several colleges to offer a series of business
management and development seminars for small businesses.
Mr. Matuszewich has received numerous awards during the course of his more than 40 year legal career. The Illinois State
Bar Association has honored him for his dedication to the Illinois Bar, most recently presenting him with a Certificate of
Appreciation for Serving as Chair of the International and Immigration Law Section Council as well as with a Newsletter
Editor Service Award for ten years of editing The Globe. In 2005, the Ravenswood Community Council presented him with
a Plaque of Dedication.
